Blister-Free Running

Question: What can be done for people that tend to get blisters when they run? What socks are best?

Answer: Wigwam recommends any of our socks that have Dri-Release in them or any Wigwam styles from the Pro series. Blisters tend to be caused by moisture and these types of socks will keep your feet dry. If you are a distance runner, go with Pro. Both will keep you comfortable during your entire run.

Carolina,

Congrats on your recent undertaking. It sounds like a great adventure and I am so happy to hear that you are wearing Wigwams.

Based on the fact that you are diabetic, I would recommend that you look for socks that utilize moisture management, so that your feet are staying dry. That is the first key to avoiding blisters. Anything in Wigwam's Pro line will keep your feet dry AND blister free. If you like something that is cushioned, you should try Ironman Thunder Pro Low or Quarter. They are great and one of my personal favorites.

Another option for your walk is the Rebel Fusion Low or Quarter. The Fusion innovation offers a sock and liner in one. The liner absorbs the sweat from your feet and the outer fabric pulls it to the outside of the sock where it can evaporate more quickly.

If you have any other questions, don't hesitate.

Best,
Margaret Chesebro

Hello,
I'm training for a 150 mile walk, I'm diabetic and my feet get pretty sensitive. I discovered WIGWAM MERINO SILK SOCKS and notice I can walk almost 10 miles with no problems. I was looking for comfortable socks to prevent blisters.
In the weeks to follow I should be increasing the length of my daily walk.
So far I've got 10 pairs of socks. We will walking in the rain. I'm 44 years old and would appreciate any tips for my 7 day long walk.
Thank you.

Without question Pro Series is the way to go. Long Run Pro, Lightning Pro Quarter and Lightning Pro Low are also great for long distance running. These are a couple of brand new styles from Wigwam that really are the gems of the Pro series. It is also important to get the proper shoe / sock relationship. Shoes with good ventilation will further the patented moisture control process in the Pro Series and really keep feet in good shape. I also recommend, as it has been recommended to me by many marathoners, that thin is in. The more sheer the sock, the better. Moisture control and a perfectly embracing fit are a winning combination.

I can't say enough about the Wigwam Trail Runner sock. Fantastic sock.

I competed in my first 100mile trail race at the Haliburton Forest Ultra and was thrilled with the way they performed. I finished the race with with absolutely no blisters or hot spots dispite running over very challenging terrain in the heat/humidity and getting my feet wet a number of times. I wore the same socks from start to finish, where as I saw many other competitors switch partway through.

I was also fortunate enough to win the race.

Thank you Wigwam,

Derrick Spafford
