SHEBOYGAN, Wis., Sept. 8, 2008 – Wigwam, an authentic American brand of socks, is redefining health and sport footwear with technologically advanced socks that make any adventure, from running the river trails to competing in a triathlon, a great experience. Pulling inspiration from both fashion and functional detail, Wigwam’s new sport socks offer enthusiasts a high quality, durable base for any activity. Alongside of these new and versatile socks, Wigwam is sponsoring the Project Athena Foundation and helping women with breast cancer and other medical or traumatic setbacks live their athletic and adventurous dreams.
Wigwam firmly believes that your feet are your foundation and in the importance of protecting women’s feet in the early stages of training all the way to the finish line. The company employs a “WE CARE” philosophy that begins at its core. Wigwam holds responsibility for sourcing the best materials, providing a safe and healthy work environment for its employees, following green practices, and fostering a family culture. Wigwam is honored to support such an incredible foundation as Project Athena and being able to invest and give back to the community.
The most recent Athenaship Recipient is 35-year-old Kerrie Larson-Kerkman from Appleton, WI. Due to a degenerative spinal condition, she endured a spinal fusion. After a significant amount of strength training and conditioning, Kerrie will be living her dream of running the Great Wall Marathon in China in May 2009. Wigwam is pleased to sponsor this foundation and help women like Kerrie achieve their goals.
“Whether you are jogging around the lake or living an athletic or adventurous dream, Wigwam has the socks to fit Project Athena’s athletes needs,” said Margaret Chesebro, field marketing manager for Wigwam. “Our product line offers a versatile mix that gives consumers more individual and personal choices in their socks. It always feels better when you have the right ones on and also knowing you are supporting a great cause.”
