 Recently I competed in the 70.3 World Championship in Clearwater, Florida (70.3 is the total distance completed in the event: 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 run). Throughout 2009 I competed in 3 other 70.3s (Florida, Steelhead and Muskoka) with the goal of qualifying for the Clearwater event. Race day came and it was a great day with good weather and a tremendous sense of excitement amongst the competitors and fans. All three portions of the event went smoothly, however the caliber of competition was significant, inspiring and a bit intimidating. All of these feelings created a great sense of accomplishment as I crossed the finish line and adding to the pride was the nostalgia of having a Wigwam towel draped over my shoulders!
 Recently Tori and Dean hosted a Winter Wonderland party in their backyard to benefit The Ronald McDonald Foundation. The backyard of their Hollywood home was turned into a magical place for kids and their parents with ice sculptures, polar bears, snowmen, and even real snow. Attendees received gift bags when they entered the backyard complete with Wigwam kids snow socks. Some of the cozy styles included Snow Cub , Snow Flurry , and Snow Bug .  Recently I was lucky enough to attend a media camp in Jackson, Wyoming and had the help of a Wigwam-supporting public relations expert on my team throughout the journey. We spent two plus days with magazine editors and writers hoping to share as much as possible about all things Wigwam. It was about time everyone see more of Wigwam's fresh face, its commitment to Made in the USA & American wool, measures to go green and save the planet, Project Athena, and so much more. Time for all was spent on mountain adventures, "toes up" around the hearth, and (for two of us) one grueling indoor test of endurance and strength. While my whole body was pushed to its limits I can say with certainty that my feet were always comfortable. Here's a short look at my trip.
 Meet Bob Rebello. Bob is in his 11th year of running worldwide marathons to raise money for kidney cancer research at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts, in memory of his brother and best friend John, who lost his battle with kidney cancer on February 27, 1999.
Bob is committed and confident that he will meet his mission to finish marathons on all 7 continents by 2011. He has already completed marathons in North America, South America, Europe, Australia and Asia. Antarctica is scheduled for 2010 and Africa in 2011. Prior to that, he is running in Stockholm, Sweden, May 30, 2009.
Waterville Valley turned pink for the 2009 Boarding for Breast Cancer Event held on Superbowl Sunday. This was the fourth year that Waterville Valley Resort, located in New Hampshire, turned its mountain pink to raise funds for Boarding for Breast Cancer (B4BC) which took place on Superbowl Sunday, February 1.
Waterville Valley has raised over $20,000 in the last three years. Resort employees participate by pledging an hour or more of their pay for B4BC. By turning the mountain pink, Waterville Valley is supporting B4BC’s efforts to educate young women about the importance of early breast cancer detection and the value of an active lifestyle.
